LoCo Housing

Co-housing is just taking off in the UK, but it’s not new to other parts of Europe - Denmark, Sweden, France, Holland, Italy......or the USA.

In co-housing, you know your neighbours and you look out for each other; you choose as much privacy or as much socializing as you want; you decide collectively what shared facilities you want to build — often a common house where people can cook and eat together, say once a week, where there could also be shared guest rooms, a workshop, library, laundry, space for music....dancing....a gym....the possibilities are endless!  And you can share e.g. gardening, cars, skills, childcare, carers in old age — with common facilities and functions jointly owned and run by the residents. And homes can be designed 'for life', adaptable for old age, so you never have to move again.

Like ours, most co-housing projects now also aim for maximum eco-efficiency: green buildings, wind, solar or other on-site power generation, growing fruit and veg, living lightly.

Welcome

London Countryside Co-housing Group (LoCo) was formed in 2006. We aim to develop a mutually supportive community, living in our own low energy homes, with some shared facilities. We want to encourage social contact and individual space, in a community managed by ourselves, the residents. On the adjacent links we set out further details of what we want to achieve, how, and where we are now, so please read on....
